oxidation mark

I was cleaning a nylon wall to wall carpet the other day when an oxidation mark (white color) that was not there the size of a spill apeared. The carpet was lightly soiled and all the cleaning solutions that I use have a nutral PH. the customer insists that I used something that caused the marks because it was not there prior to my cleaning. The carpet was steam cleaned by a truck mount and I can not convince her that this was not caused by me. Any Ideas?
